Here is some vital information to help you –
What happens if you put diesel in your petrol engine?
Firstly, the diesel will foul the spark plugs causing your vehicle to stop in some instances they will need replaced but most of them clean up. In some petrol engines, the diesel will also burn out the petrol fuel injectors but most importantly as the diesel isn’t burnt it can end up in your oil sump, causing your engine oil too thin and affecting your oils lubricating properties which in extreme cases can cause your engine to overheat and seize, to add to that it can also foul your vehicles cat and exhaust sensors leading them to give faulty signals, these may clean up or need replaced.
Potential damage to your vehicle?
Petrol Fuel Injectors
Petrol Emission System Failure
Engine Seizure (Extreme cases)

Less than 5% of diesel in your petrol tank?
According to various different online sources it is said that you can get away with putting less than 5% (2.5 litres in a 50-litre tank) in your tank, it can be topped up with a full tank of petrol and your vehicle should be able burn off the contamination. We always recommend a full fuel drain as the cost of draining your vehicles fuel tank compared to the potential damage caused outweighs the risk. It is also very common for us to come across customers who have “topped up” to dilute the mixture and have then in turn wasted more money as all the fuel then becomes waste due to their car breaking down! Not sure on the capacity of your tank? Give us a call and we can advise you!!

Other Things to Know
Does my filter need changed?
No not generally, our technicians can advise you when or scene. After a full system flush all contaminants are removed from the fuel filter, the only cases we recommend a filter change is if you vehicle is contaminated with water or AdBlue®️ etc. However, if you would like us to change the filter we can supply and fit them.
Will misfueling affect my warranty?
We hear this all the time that main dealers tell customers that their car must be brought to them to have certain parts changed to keep the warranty intact at a charge of thousands of ££££. This is certainly not the case, we are a fully approved company that use the latest fuel draining equipment we currently have various main dealers we do work for as they do not have the level of equipment or have the license to transport and store mixed fuel!
Will my insurance cover me?
Some insurers do, but there is sometimes an excess to pay some that we have heard is as much as £180. We also know first-hand a lot of them will get a recovery companies to recover your vehicle to their depot and do a fuel drain there, taking up many of your precious hours!
